birth

  • I get into a comfortable position. I relax my body and I ask God to make His presence known in and around me. I focus on sharing my thoughts with Him.

  • I spend some time thanking God for the blessings he has given me through this pregnancy. I think about today and His blessings big and small. I give him my gratitude.

I spend some time thinking about my body and how it’s changed. I give him thanks for how my body works to grow and deliver this baby. It was designed lovingly and purposefully.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:13-14 NIV)

My hormones are working with my body to prepare for birth. I reflect on how God designed me uniquely for even the hairs on my head are numbered (Luke 12:7).

  • I am closer and closer to meeting my baby. I lift my thoughts up to the Lord. My baby and I are healthy, my body is nourished and I enjoy God’s presence. I ask God to show me what fears I have that surround birth, as soon as I can identify them I lift them up to the Lord.

I ask God to show me what I am trying to control, as soon as I can think of what I am holding onto I release it to the Lord. Father you are in control. I ask for His guidance and discernment to be able to trust the process of birth.

  • I thank God for the people who I trust and who will support me through my labor and pregnancy. I thank him for these people, people he has already revealed and those he has yet to reveal. I thank him for my partner, my family and the medical professionals that have journeyed with me. I commit them to his hands.

  • Every day brings me closer to meeting my baby. I delight in this thought and thank the Lord for the amazing miracle he has gifted us. I ask God to reveal to me what tomorrow will look like committing the day into his hands.

Lord, today I wish to turn the birth of my baby to you. I know no matter what happens He is in control.

  • I meditate on: “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 66:13 NIV)

    I close my usual way.
